Veterinary and Welfare Organisations

  • RCVS – Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
    The RCVS is the governing body for the veterinary profession, veterinary surgeons and nurses must be registered to be able to practice. The RCVS regulates educational, ethical and clinical standards within the profession.
  • BSAVA – British Small Animal Veterinary Association
    The BSAVA exists to promote excellence in small animal practice through education and science.
  • BVA – British Veterinary Association
    The BVA provides a voice to the British veterinary profession. In addition they also publish a good range of client handouts for further information on various topics.
  • RSPCA – Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
    The UK’s largest animal welfare charity. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome hundreds of thousands of animals each year in England and Wales. They offer advice on caring for all animals and campaign to change laws that will protect them, which they enforce through prosecution.
  • Dogs Trust – Shrewsbury
    One of the oldest and largest rehoming centres in the area, giving a happy home to thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. They never destroy a healthy dog
  • Cats Protection League
    (Cannock & Burntwood)
    Cats Protection has grown to become the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. They now help around 235,000 cats and kittens every year through their network of over 260 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and their homing centre.   • PDSA – Wolverhampton

    International Cat Care has a vision that “all cats, owned and unowned, are treated with care, compassion and understanding”. Their website provides information about their current projects, and an advice section about health, care, breeding and behaviour of cats.
